Patrick’s Cabaret invites all to “enjoy the sunset” at its very last event, a “FUNeral”!
Just as Pride month kicks into gear, Patrick’s Cabaret invites supporters, artists, and members of the community to celebrate at the sunset of the organization with a “FUNeral” (like a funeral, but FUNNER!). The special event will include eulogistic performances by artists spanning Patrick’s Cabaret’s history, FUN interpretations of traditional funeral rituals, and a dance party. Attendees are invited to wear their “funeral finest” for an evening of reflection, love, and celebration, while coming together to enjoy the sunset. A ticked performance will run from 7:30-9:00pm, followed by a dance party 9:00pm-12:00am that is free and open to the public!
RELATED SPECIAL EVENTS:
Eulogistic Performance: 7:30 PM -9:00 PM
FUNeral Dance Party: 9:00P PM -12:00 AM
Performers will be selected via an open call process, seeking brief “eulogistic performances” from performers who have graced the many stages of the Cabaret in its 32-year history. More information will be available at http://www.patrickscabaret.org/call-performers.
The FUNeral for Patrick’s Cabaret is hosted and planned by its host committee, or “FUNeral Directors”: Scott Artley, Alison Bergblom Johnson, Tom Cassidy, Lizzette Chapa, Renee Copeland, Chandler Daily, Amy Danielson, Peter Foster, Adrienne Kleinman, Mollie Lacy, AP Looze, Juliette Myers, Paul Nemeths, Jon Skaalen, and Harry Waters Jr.
Become a Legacy Donor
Patrick’s Cabaret still needs to raise $11,000 to sunset having met all commitments and with the greatest impact. This fundraising goal, representing what the organization would have raised from individuals during any other season, supports the 250+ artists who are part of the final season. If fundraising exceeds our organization’s needs, we will be able to re-grant the balance to mission-aligned organizations who have agreed to take on Patrick’s Cabaret’s programming and continue on the legacy, such as 20% Theater, which has agreed to adopt our annual event “Controlled Burn: queer performance for a world on fire” that each year features 18 acts of new, radical queer performance.
Donors who make a gift of any amount are considered “Legacy Donors.” In recognition of your final gift to this momentous organization, you will be part of Out on the Edge: Three Decades of Patrick’s Cabaret, a retrospective book commemorating our vital history, featuring material from deep in the Cabaret’s archives. Please note that the deadline for Legacy Donors to be included in the printed book is Wednesday, April 25th. Learn more about becoming one of the Cabaret’s Legacy Donors by visiting patrickscabaret.org/news/be-part-legacy-patricks-cabaret, and making a gift online at givemn.org/organization/patricks-cabaret.
