I Am Woman is a unique collaboration of stories, poetry, song, dance and music - a testament to spirit and courage. Guest curated and hosted by Danielle Daniel.
African American women have journeyed through conditions of cruelties so horrible, so bizarre, that they have had to re-invent themselves. In order to survive, they had to find safety and sanctity inside of themselves: they had to laugh at the impossible, fight for what they believed to be right, pray for the wicked, nurse the wounded, feed the hungry, and motivate and inspire generations abandoned by society. They had to keep on dreaming of a world, not only better for themselves, but for generations to come-a world where character and ability matter, not color or gender. They survived so many broken promises, but found beauty in its remain, and made made significant contributions to America.
I Am Woman celebrates the love, the sorrow, the tragedy and the triumph; a combination of humor, funk and pizzazz.
