Call for Artist-Facilitators (Fall 2017)

What knowledges do you bring to our community?

Proposals due: Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at 11:59pm

Thank you for wanting to share what you know! This is our second season of regular artist education workshop programming in partnership with Soo Visual Arts Center and Pangea World Theater. It's intended to create collaborative space for artists to share their skills with our creative community, to strengthen relationships, and build resilience. They reflect our collective commitment to connecting artists with resources, to each other, and provide them with opportunities to put their unique talents to work.

Take me to the application:

We're looking for artists to lead 1.5-2-hour long workshops for a typical audience of 5-15 people. Applying artists can be of any discipline or level of experience. To help you with this application, here's a few qualities that we're looking for: (1) Artists who can lead a 1.5-hour long workshop, sharing skills that have helped them survive as artists; (2) Workshops related to skills, professional, and wellness development (from applying to funding to networking as introverts); (3) Because we support artists on the margins, workshops should center experiences "at the edge of culture."

Some good questions to ask yourself before applying are: "What skill do I wish I knew when I was starting out as an artist?" and "What unique knowledges do I hold that I can share with others?" While we do have these guidelines, all are encouraged to apply and we will review every application in full. (Check out our website's event archive to find previous workshops). Also note that your idea doesn't have to be fully fleshed out yet, but give us as much information as you can.

Expectations: Each artist will individually meet with Mike, our workshop coordinator, for ~30 minutes, adequately plan their workshops, facilitate the workshop, receive $200 upon completion, and submit a brief reflection form so we can continue to improve this programming.

Timeline: We will release our workshop dates once we finalize them, but below is a general timeline for now.

Workshop #1: Week of Oct. 30 - Nov. 4

Workshop #2: Week of Nov. 6-11

Workshop #3: Week of Nov. 20-25

Workshop #4: Week of  Nov. 27 - Dec. 2
