For Patrick’s Cabaret to thrive, we need each act to get at least 20 people to the show.**

How will you make this happen? What is your marketing plan? A marketing plan is not rocket science.

Here is what we do for each show at Patrick’s Cabaret:

  • Send out press releases to about 120 media contacts
  • Mail postcards or flyers to about 50 people
  • Email over 2000 people
  • Leave flyers and cards for people at the Cabaret
  • Post show promotion at the Cabaret
  • Distribute cards and flyers in the neighborhood
  • Announce the show on a sign on the front of our building
  • Post the show on our web site
  • Staff and board members talk up the shows in a variety of settings

In addition we provide you with printed and electronic material for your marketing. Your marketing brings in 75% of the crowd. To support your marketing you will receive:

  • postcards
  • a .pdf by email that you can also send out electronically, or print on a color printer to use for posters
  • a copy of the press release for the show

Here are some suggestions for your marketing plan. Set goals:

  • How many people can you tell in person?
  • How many people can you call on the phone?
  • Wetspots

  • How many people can you hand a flyer or postcard to?
  • How many people can you mail cards to?
  • How many people can you send an email to?
  • Carry some tickets with you all the time, its easier to sell them if you have them right there.
  • Do you have any personal media contacts to forward the press release to, and follow up with a phone call? What about your local neighborhood paper? They love doing stories on local folks doing things.
  • Is there anything else you can do to get people to the show? (Media contacts, radio shows, sandwich boards.... Marketing can be endless).

Please give this serious attention. It is sad when great shows at Patrick’s Cabaret are seen by only a handful of people.

Remember to reach out/call/email people a few days before the show to remind them. Personal contact makes a difference. The more personal the better (a call as opposed to an email, or a personalized email as opposed to a mass email.) Encourage them to arrive early.

** Why? You, the artists, get 100% of the revenue from the ticket sales. What Patrick's Cabaret gets is what we collect when we pass the basket at each show. It's simple, the more people there, the likelier that we collect the goal that we are budgeted to collect at each show. In the big picture, if we don't collect enough in donations, we can't keep going.
